There are multiple of Mileage Record creation. Two are discussed here.

We’ll call them (1).single destination (2).two-destination and (3).multiple destination requests are discussed in a separate article

Single Destinations

  • To enter one address
    • “Simon, I’m going to [ some place ]
    • ( optional ) [ roundtrip ] ( Hint: just use the keyword “round-trip” somewhere in your request )
    • ( optional ) [ a complete date ]
    • ( optional ) mileage is [ a number with or without a decimal ] ” ( this is for specifically declared mileage record types )
  • To enter one address, alternate form
    • “New mileage, start is { some place ]
    • everything else follows the pattern previously-described
  • Single address entries will always check the previous mileage record to set the start location for the new record. If no record is found, start location will default to HOME.
  • If the date, or travel date, is not included, then travel date defaults to TODAY. Mileage Pie automatically includes travel date = today, unless specified otherwise
  • A single address with specified roundtrip will build two spokes from the end location of the previous record from a same day entry, or from your home if no previous record is found.
  • A previous record will only include a record dated the same date as the date specified in your request, except this may include a record created up to 4 hours prior to your request if dated the previous day

Two destinations

  • Two enter two addresses
    • “New mileage, start is { some place ] end is [ some place ]
    • ( optional ) date is [ a complete date ]
    • ( optional ) purpose is [ a description of the reason for the trip ]
    • ( optional ) note is [ put here any notes that you care to add to the record ]”
  • TAKE NOTE
    • two destination entries do not support Declared Mileage types
    • two destination entries do not support the use of Round-trip
  • Use if you are not starting your trip from home
  • Use if you are inserting a trip out and back from home into your trip history – to enter a trip that you forgot
